Port Dickson, A Farewell Trip.

I spent my long weekend at Port Dickson with some of my closest friends. Truth be told, it was actually like a photo taking trip. Sometimes it’s really challenging to take photos all the time and I think that we don’t get to enjoy and relax to the fullest when we always have to get busy with the camera around. Well, at least I have some decent photos taken to be happy about! :) (Thus calls for a new header too! woohoo!)

We were greeted by this beautiful little glass panel at the front door. Such a pleasant surprise! (though the water was not crystal clear but still, beautiful!)

We took some group shots in the chalet before heading out for photos. 5-6pm is the best time to take pictures at the seaside - warm, soft lighting and most importantly, it’s the natural light that we all love! I wish we had more time though, it was kinda rush to finish everything before sunset so some of the pics actually turned out really cool (as in blueish) so everything after that was post-processed.

It was a fun getaway. Although short, but I sure had alot of fun with my girls. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that’d make us happiest. Dreaming and talking about the craziest and the impossible things during the journey back home was so fun. And we could only do this because we are us. :)

The night before leaving back to KL, we had a short surprise birthday celebration for Xiaohui. Also like a short farewell celebration for her because she’ll be leaving to Dubai soon! Yes, our girl made it to Emirates! We’re so proud of you! All I could wish for is the best in your future undertakings. Good luck & you’ll be sorely missed! :’)

Productive Week!

This week has been a productive one. One of my class has been paying visits to various places such as radio stations, publishing house and printing press for classes and I have to say that it's pretty interesting and such an eye opening experience it was.

I thought the BFM taglines were really creative! My favourite one has got to be "Bieber-Free Music". Haha, nuff said. They were very kind to let us each choose our favourite car sticker. Definitely learned alot from that visit itself. The publishing house and printing press visits were very value-adding too. It was the first time in my life witnessing pages of magazines being printed in split seconds by a mega printer worth 3mil. It was so huge we could climb on a platform to take a look at each color station. It was really awesome. Too bad I didn't bother to bring my camera with me because most of the time I would be really pissed off and fed up with fighting for better standing spots with my classmates. #storyofmylife

Speaking about studies, I can't believe it's already February! WHAT! I have my final 2 months to go through and my journey to getting my degree is complete. Absolutely. Cannot. Wait.

On Christmas Day

On Christmas Day we went out with the thought of taking a cover photo in mind. This place was a small little building nearby my neighbourhood. Guess what? It’s actually an old folk’s home. It has always been there, but I just couldn’t be bothered to stop by until Christmas. And I love the outgrown climbing leaves covering most part of the walls! It’s gorgeous and makes a really good background. You won’t believe we actually braved through the mosquito bites, some long grasses, among other things that left us feeling really itchy, after standing there for 5 minutes!

And we wrapped up under 15 minutes, I reckon. Just casual, happy looking pictures. hahaha.

Then a dinner with others later that night. :)

Lunch Date

Last week the two ladies and I had a quick lunch date (which was long overdue!) at Charlie Brown Cafe, KLCC. When we go out for lunch, they always ask me what I’d like to have and I’ll be totally clueless! I feel very bad because my colleagues always always always insist to buy me lunch. I know, they’re so nice. T_T

The environment wasn’t as cute as I thought it would be. But both of them were like, “Seriously, I think I’d only go to such place with you!” It’s funny that they always like to make themselves sound like they’re from another generation, which might be partly true lah, but not exactly. They’re not that old, really! lol!

Bone shaped furnitures. I don’t get it. They weren’t very comfortable to sit on too, trust me.

I work with both of them most of the time. Ohh, memories! But I definitely am not missing those crazy workloads now although I do miss the kind of life I had.. :D

Clarise. One of the nicest ladies there. She tells everyone that I’m her “KPOP Intern”. I even helped her to search for lyric translation for the song, “Gee” to be played on her wedding day. Hahaha! She definitely has a very adorable side of her sometimes!

Jennifer. I can only think of two words to describe her. Workaholic and perfectionist. She’s the kind of person who would tell me to reprint documents when she spots something like, an extra “space” between words. :O YES. She was that crazy!

Okay I look really ugly here, tippy toes and all! But oh well! Clarise was totally posing so.. :P

Last Farewell

I ended my internship placement with Maxis last week. *sobs* It was quite an emotional and quiet week, not to mention that I actually had nothing much left to do considering that it’s the final week of the year, so most of the time I was just rushing my report with other intern who were leaving with me too. I still remember how I was frantically looking for a job and freaking out in the last two weeks of August because I didn’t get any replies from the many job applications. *sulks* Then I received a really happy call from Maxis offering me an internship opportunity for 4 months. I still remember how hard it was for me to properly digest everything that the lady told me in the call because I was still involved in my granddad’s funeral. I was really excited and relieved at the same time because I was so worried that I couldn’t find a job in time. :(

The first week of work was all about adapting to the new environment and getting to know the people in the office. Even taking the initiative to talk to others and getting to know them was a challenge. Some people just generally know (I guess) that we were interns, but just would never come and talk to us. I guess that’s exactly what work hierarchy is all about. Nevertheless, I met some of the nicest and friendliest people in my department/company and that’s all that matters.

2 weeks after I started my internship, I actually got a call from a local magazine agency, responding to my application for internship. I was really, really excited and disappointed at the same time. Excited because I was offered such a golden opportunity to do what I’d really prefer to do if compared to what I did in Maxis, disappointed because the offer came too late. But I guess everything just happens for a reason. If I wasn’t in Maxis, I wouldn’t be exposed to the corporate world, will not learn so much about people, will not get the many many opportunities that I had and most importantly, will never meet such awesome people. I guess I was just lucky.

Some of the thoughtful gifts my colleagues gave me. My favourite one is the card – filled with so many encouraging and heartfelt messages. Thank you Amir!

Thursday we had a short farewell lunch together with the team.
She’s like the super senior among the interns. And my lunch partner, lepak partner, etc etc!

Kenny (center) being cute. He’s like the nicest, friendliest and the most helpful person ever. I still remember I had to trouble him so much when we did an event together. Thank you so much Kenny! :) And I’m super sad coz I didn’t take a picture with him UGHHHHH

The funny bunch. :) And they sit together at a corner near our side. So they never fail to cheer us up everyday with their daily silly jokes. lol.

She is one of those people whom I will miss the most! She was the first person who came and talk to me and 15 mins later we both realize that we are into KPOP! :O Then there goes another 1 hour talking about KPOP. hahaha. She’s been really helpful and nice to everyone especially to the interns. She’s the kind of person who can speak to everyone in the workplace. :) So I always tell the newcomers that the first person they should ever meet is definitely her.

This is funny Gee Nie! She’s a really cheerful person and laughs all the time!

Joanne. She’s one of the many nice associates who would take the trouble to drop by my place and talk to me. Share their experiences and always give me motivations. Ahhh, such a pity I didn’t get to take pictures with many other people!

Ikram, my really nice (and good looking!) supervisor. :D Although he’s quite shy and quiet sometimes, he’s always been really nice to me. He’s never scolded me although I always make mistakes. hahaha.

Seriously, this is how dull we look on a Friday. No I am kidding. We They look dull on normal working days too. hahaha!
Sigh. Miss you guys like mad. Miss my working life too. :(

Sometimes I feel like giving up in my life because I don’t understand the point of wearing super high heels just to still, look the shortest. :( I know I have tried my best.

Lastly!!! The big boss! KC. She loves to start her conversation with “What are you working on right now?” She’s really a true optimist and always an inspiration to me. Keep spreading your positive energy! :)

The last few minutes before I left, I went around acting secret Santarina, leaving thank you cards on their desks, saying final goodbyes and giving goodbye hugs. It’s been a brisk 4 months, I too cannot believe it has come to an end. Though there were so much hard and difficult times, but I have to say that it has been quite an experience to be able to pull through that, and not to mention the wonderful times I had while with Maxis. It’s an experience that I will never forget and Maxis will always be very close to my heart! :)

My really nice colleagues bought me these for Christmas present/farewell gift. :’) The other day when I was at lunch with C, she tried spying by asking me what kind of make up brand I usually use. Then she asked if I have tried Dolly Wink’s eyelashes and I said no coz it’s really too damn expensive for artificial hair wtf. The next day she bought me all these (not to mention the countless number of lunches they bought me) so I felt really bad for not buying anything in return. :O

She even noticed that I only use brown color eyeshadow pallete! :D

Do a good lunch

This marks the end of my second last week of internship. I guess it’s strange that I am so not looking forward to it. I know I will definitely have a hard time to cope when semester starts again (which is right away in January itself!) and that I will sorely miss everything about my workplace.

This week and the next, will be filled with farewell lunches and consecutive goodbyes to those whom I am truly close with. I just realized how much I have taken the 4 months for granted and how much I love this company as a whole.

The other day while the bosses bought us interns lunch, we were seated at a round table, very chinese style dinner-like, sharing about the many things and stories about each of us. The funniest thing is, each and everyone at the table was from different places in Msia, and one non-Malaysian. It was fun to have casual talks with people of such seniority, a rare opportunity for interns like me, I’d say. We talked about how people’s perspectives about life change when they reach a certain turning point, about how culture influences communication and many other things. It was a good sharing moment.

On another occasion, I was having lunch with a superior of mine, sharing about her life in general after marriage, how she loves what she is doing, and how she manages her emotions while at work. Since I started working here, I’ve come to realize that having high level of emotional quotient is twice as important as intelligence quotient. Being patient in the first place, is already a great challenge. Being emotionally resilient and having the ability to cloak grievances with polite words are even greater a challenge. Hats off to all of them.

She then told me, “It happens to everyone. Especially during the early years of your career. You will work really, really hard just to get things done. Staying up late, skipping lunch, anything it takes. And that would last for about 3-4 years. Surely, you will meet a vast variety of people at work, will have to deal with issues and problems, and it is especially hard to tackle when it revolves around emotions. So, never, ever, ever, ever, speak or write an email when you are ANGRY. Take a step back, calm down and think rational. If necessary, tell them you are not in the situation to talk. Do it when you are ready.”

“Then again, how long can this last? After a few years of working hard and go all in, one day you will finally realize that it will not worth all your sacrifice of time with your family, your friends, your partner.. and many other things in life. Afterall, it’s just a JOB. Loving your job is important, but there must be a good balance between work and life.”

Every good lunch always comes with a good sharing session. And this is all I would ask for.

(I have no idea why it’s so easy when I write for my blog. Ideas would just come flowing into my mind. But when I face the computer for the entire day in the office to write my internship report, I CAN’T COME UP WITH A SHIT. FML.)

I took super long to write this because I’ve been procrastinating every single day. Anyway! I’m finally allowed to say this, I’m officially twenty one! Definitely not looking forward towards the following birthdays because I seriously begin to feel old. :(

I got very Christmasy gifts this year! I have another key necklace from my friends not in the photo. Couldn’t be more thankful. :)

This year I also realized that my brother and I are actually blood-related. LOL. I’m kidding.

Had a simple birthday dinner with family and celebrated with some close friends in the weekend. Oh yeah, I totally forgot that I was greeted with the warmest little gift on my actual birthday. T_T

The following pictures were taken at WonderMilk. Such a quaint little cafe with its own charm. If you’re looking for somewhere photogenic then you should visit this place. :) Food wise, nothing fancy but it wasn’t bad at all.


You can spend some serious time exploring every single corner in the cafe. It’s really small, but you will be surprised at how much effort was put in to decorate this little space.

I’ve always been wanting to post regularly but there will always be something there to stop me from doing so. Like going out in the weekends. And ended up coming back home late and feeling tired. Then the whole cycle repeats again for the following weeks. :(

I have to admit that the past few weeks have not been the happiest time in the past 3 months. Crazy amount of workload and being ordered around was such a great challenge to my sanity. (though the latter seems to be the one bothering me) I honestly do not know what sort of attitude would be appropriate for me to properly handle such pressure. And I definitely do not know in which position do I stand.

I may be someone who has no importance, but I just don’t understand when people utilize us as extra labours which they can simply take advantage of. I am just unhappy for the fact that people often come after me to pass over their work. For once, I don’t mind lending you a helping hand. I do sometimes pity you for having to finish so much work, all alone. But when you keep coming back for the second, third and fourth time? Something is not right. Hello? I’m not here to do your job. After all, I am here for a reason. I am an undergraduate spending my precious time here to learn things that are beneficial to me and my future career, to do something that will add value.

Early this month, we celebrated two November babies at Ecoba, PJ Trade Center. I’d love to go back for their customer service and of course, good food! By the way, if you call for reservation, you can get 10% discount off the bill. Well, I think they probably just waived the service charge but that’s alot when there are 10 of us dining.

Anyway, it was a themed dinner but I highly doubt anyone could actually tell what the theme was. :O But I definitely did have alot of fun! :)

2. Single eyelid

Me: Hey, do you know what a single eye lid and double eye lid is?

Indian colleague: Huh? Single eye lid? No. This is single *points to one eye*
And this is double eye lid? *points both eyes*

Me: (Burst into laughter and spent the next 30 mins googling and emailing each other pictures of single eye lid people. LOL)

I'm so sure that the term "single eye lid" is so foreign to Indians and there is probably no such thing in their culture.

Nilai Memorial Park

I just realized how seldom I pray (don’t even talk about going to temples ._.) when I visited the temple at Nilai Memorial Park. The place was so beautiful and peaceful. Praying and asking God to answer to my queries was something that I haven’t done for too damn long.

This place is such a gem. There’s so much more precious corners that would absolutely make good photos are yet to be explored.

I can’t believe it’s already been 2 months of me indulging in working life! And that equals one internship. I think it’s getting better. That memory of me doing all sorts of work an office girl would do during the first week of work is still very vividly stored in my mind. I certainly am not complaining.

Now, I am extremely grateful that I am given the chance to do something far more interesting than that job of an office clerk. It feels like a giant leap. And I’m so excited to be part of it. :) Despite all these excitement, I am missing uni. Badly. I don’t know what took me so long to realize that it actually makes up such a big part of my life.

Ahhhh, 2 more months to go. It will come by very quickly. I know. Now let’s just tuck ourselves into our beds and indulge in that gratifying warmth while we still can.

I’ve been hearing alot about this bakery after Levain in KL so I finally visited it last 2 weeks (and getting lost while on the way there) and fell in love with the bakery ever since! Their menu is relatively cheaper than Levain’s but I find their food better in every way and not mention the smaller crowd in this branch. I especially love their pasta and cream puff! I think I wanna go back this weekend again!

I was so excited when a parcel containing this album arrived at my doorstep and I came home after work to unwrap this! I love parcels! It always felt like a gift. Except that I had to pay for it. haha!

There are QR Codes found in pages of the album. Incase you are still living in stone age, QR = quick response codes that can be scanned and it will redirect you a link. There are about 10 videos that can be watched by scanning the codes and it’s a continuous narrative video that tells a story about JYJ and a music journey.

It’s so cool! It’s their first full korean album after the English one so it means alot! You can buy this album on Yesasia! I got the special black edition which is released later because the Red, Yellow and Blue vesion was sold out. :D Support original music! <3

InkiOne Kpop Party

So I took part in a contest organized by One HD and I won myself a ticket + 2 guests to the InkiOne Kpop Party at Bentley Music Auditorium last week. Usually I won’t even bother joining because I’m always under the impression that I will NEVER win in any contest that I join but this time I thought, why not, I’ll just try my luck. (Ohh, that’s also because the grand prize is an expenses paid trip to watch the Inkigayo Concert in Korea itself!) Maybe I have some hidden talent in slogan writing. /trollface

We arrived quite late and most of the guests are already watching the pre screening of Inkigayo in the hall while we take our own sweet time to try every single refreshment they served at the cocktail tables. :D

The party started off with a stage dance performance by Ruffneckz – they danced to Roly Poly yo! They also taught us some dance steps for “Tonight” and “Mr. Simple”. It was actually quite fun except that I’ve forgotten everything now. :D

Last weekend we had a celebration for the 23 year old Miss Abigail/Psymasslo gathering. It’s been a long while! We should meet up more often!

Rainy Day

Such a gloomy day it was. The weather seems to understand me well these days. I got a text from a kakak at work telling me how unhappy she was at that current moment because of some work issues that she had to take a day off today. To a person who is hardworking enough to work even during new year to take a day off to make herself feel better IS a big deal. At least to me. I was surprised that she chose to text me among many others. I guess it’s true that we occasionally find some comfort when speaking to someone who are out of our comfort zone. Someone distant, someone who is neutral enough to make fair comments, someone nice enough to make them feel at least a tad better.

I came home talking about a ridiculous issue that has been bothering for some time, but never had the intention to seriously bring the issue up. Today, someone finally did. How should I say this? I am more grateful than ever that there are some people who actually understand me. They actually do. But I have a strange feeling that this problem will never come to an end and a possible solution that will make everyone happy. It might or might not make the situation worse. At this point, all I could think of is to just break down in complete silence and just cry; but I was stopping myself all the time. I am always pretending to be strong, always pretending to be alright when it is not.

This was a concert/carnival that I attended a month ago and I only got down to posting this now because I keep forgetting! Now I feel extremely grateful to have friends with the media because nothing is impossible! :P

While waiting for 30 seconds live countdown. The girls were so hot, multilingual, can dance and (most if not all) can sing/rap. I don’t see a reason why they can’t succeed.

I have no idea why Jooyi reminds me so much of Wonder Girl’s Yoobin. They have the same husky voice and singing style! I read an article earlier about her and she was originally recruited to be the “female version of BigBang” – which was the initial concept of the existing 2NE1. Well if she agreed to join them then she’d now be part of 2NE1! lol. Probably taking over Park Bom’s spot. Haha.

Guess what? We left immediately after they performed and even skipped Nelly’s encore performance for dinner. :D I love fun and impromptu weekend getaways! :D

Work has so far been good. It's either I get really busy or pretty free. The best things that I love most of the company has to be the unlimited supply of coffee and a mega coffee machine, my workstation, ample office space with their excellent working culture topping the list.

I've been learning different things almost every single day, except that it is no design or Photoshop. I guess it's just how we perceive knowledge. I've come to realize that internship is not just about doing something that I want to do or rather, related to my field of study, it's all about the process of learning and getting exposed to things that are out of my comfort zone.

It's strange that I chose to work in the telco industry when many of my peers chose other more relevant firms that would help them "look" like they're in the right track. Either way, it's just the matter of how much one could learn from the environment and how can one make the most out of the available resources. I have friends who got into the biggest firms in the communication industry, but they are not even given the chance to handle the smallest things in the company. Now do you get what I mean? What is the point of getting into a big company and then get nothing out of it in the end of the day? I just don't get it.

Anyway, I'm excited to join the engagement team. I. Just. Couldn't. Wait. It's the kind of work that I imagined to be doing for this period of 4 months. I'm hoping for the best!

KL Rat Race 2011

I was selected as part of the supporters for the KL Rat Race 2011 and I spent my entire day at the venue standing, in heels. Why in the world did I choose to wear high heels! I had to wear flats the following day because the pain was so unbearable. :(

We were greeted by hundreds of colorful balloons parading in the sky. It was so pretty. :)

Korean Music Wave Malaysia 2011

I have so many backdated memories I wish to blog but I figured that I couldn’t wait any longer so I’m just gonna blog about this first! :) I didn’t plan to attend this concert mainly because Taeyang wasn’t coming along with other Big Bang members, so I thought I shall just pass this one but I guess God just didn’t want me to miss this! And I’m so glad that I went. It was one of the most enjoyable concerts (besides TVXQ’s Asia Tour Concert hehe) that I’ve ever been to. I got to watch this concert (rock zone!!) courtesy of Xiao Hou! Thank you Xiao Hou! I couldn’t be happier. :) She even said I could bring a friend along with me. How sweet can she be! T_T On another note, I hope my friends won’t have hard feelings because I only had 1 extra ticket. I felt really bad. :(

I think I’m ~~gonna be~~ an expert in sneaking cameras into concert venues. It’s indeed difficult for me to watch concerts in free standing zones because of, well, my height but it’s also an advantage when I need to quickly move around to avoid getting caught of taking pictures during concerts. I can easily take continuous shots then eventually disappear among the crowd. HAHA! Now you see, now you don’t! BEAT THAT. :D The security was pretty strict there especially in photography since no camera was allowed into the concert venue but here you go, tons of pics for you to droll over. :D

The MCs of the night: A local DJ, korean VJ, KEVIN and Dongho! They’re multi talented. :)

The first one to perform was FT Island. My friend and I was busy guessing the artistes line-up for the night and we thought it would be Teen Top but we were wrong! If it weren’t because of the FT Island boys, I think the crowd wouldn’t be so hyped up to kick start the night. They’re one of my favourite performers of the night!

Would you please take a look at this master piece! :O Honestly, I’ve always been a fan of Hongki but I just got star struck by the charming guitarist Jonghun and I fell for him since then. I think his beauty deserves some mesmerisation. Now let us all have 1 minute of silence to appreciate his beauty.

He’s such a funny guy! Though his english wasn’t perfect but he made an effort to speak in english. And he mentioned that he wants to live here! lol. So much for making his fans happy. :)

The last performers on stage has gotta be GD and TOP. It was the BEST BEST BEST closing performance especially during “High High”. The crowd went crazy! Wish Taeyang was here too. T_T

Looking at the pictures now make me feel so hyped up. People in my office have been spazzing about the concert all week. *shakes head lol*

The Appreciation Party

Thursday night’s appreciation party (United as 1 Event) was so much fun. It’s a shame to say that this long awaited appreciation dinner is happening after so much procrastination but we made it nevertheless! You know when people say, you always get down to the worst outcome when you start planning too much? It’s freaking true. We had pizzas in the end after planning to have our food catered/mass dining in some suggested restaurants, hahaha! Well, I’m not complaining because we get to spend the remaining bucks on drinks. (!!) :D

A few days before I officially started working, I went to have a quick look on working clothes, thus the outing. :) We walked 3 malls in a day. Talk about shopping and commitment.

The first week of internship

Oh how comforting to actually say that a week has briskly gone by. I am still quietly learning to adapt to a foreign environment and adjust myself to fit into it. It definitely is not easy. Not easy because I need time to physically and mentally adapt to it and bridge the gap between me and the fellow co-workers, not easy because I’m born like that. I appreciate how random passerbys actually make an effort to stop by and just greet me. I’ve gone through many inductions in the office for the past 1 week. It’s a great feeling to meet new people. It has always been.

I MUST admit that I’m really bad at remembering names, and so do some people. In simple conclusion, they’d just refer me to as “the new intern/the new girl/the new kid” in the office. And she sits opposite to this person.

I can never be happier to be able to work comfortably in such huge office space and not to mention, a mega coffee machine and 2 pantries with unlimited coffee/tea supply enough to last me a lifetime. As much as I love office, I also do not find my current workload living up to my excitement prior to the internship. Maybe it’s because the majorly friendly Manager who recruited me into the company has left right before I started my co-op placement. Bummer, you say? Hell yes.

I’ve been having the thought in my mind that if she is still with the company right now, I’d be catching up with the work and adapting to the environment at a much faster rate. I could have learned so much more in the past 1 week that has gone by. I could be so much happier. Maybe I’m even thinking too much. Bleh.

So far, I’m helping a few teams/heads with their work(which I have so far find myself not interested in) and I have this strong feeling that I could have gone further than just doing these. I think that they are not making the most out of my potential and capability. I’m constantly asking for assignments because I feel that the lack of challenges is demotivating me.

You know what I always tell my friends, one doesn’t need to have a degree to do this.

Oh yeah, my immediate supervisor who works as a writer for most of the firm’s publications, gives me pieces of obviously already well-written articles and tells me to better it. Talk about STRESS.

Why I love to drink so much.

Alcohol – the best way to loosen up. I usually get all the courage I need when I drink. It’s the best feeling in the world. (Footnote: This is obviously backdated for about, say 3 weeks ago? heh. :D)

We went to the usual place, Brussels at Jaya One for a couple of drinks. This time, with Szeqiuan’s friends too. :) I still clearly remember how I felt that night. All moody and acting like I was okay. Well, that was before I scored an internship opportunity at Maxis.

In memory of the late grandpa.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but no one ever really dies as long as they took the time to leave us with fond memories.”

It’s been an emotional week. Grandpa left us on 22nd of August 2011. It was an alarming call in the middle of the night that woke us all up to watch him go for the last time. It was a really heartbreaking moment to let him go, each and every of us shed tears while we say our last words and bid him goodbye.

Grandpa’s departure affected me so much because he was really dear to me. I lived with him since the day I was born. He watched me grow for the past 21 years of my life. I cannot accept the fact that he is no longer here. But it’s a blessing that he left peacefully, leaving behind a great number of heirs (and even a great grandchild!).

Grandpa’s funeral lasted for 3 days. The ceremony was beautiful. Many of our close relatives, friends and acquaintances came to pay their last respect to grandpa. Most importantly, all of his children and grandchildren were here to see him and pray for him. Grandpa must be really happy. On the last day of the funeral, we prayed for the last time before we send him off to grandpa’s new home, Nilai Memorial Park. I hope he is in a happier place right now.

Every now and then, I cry and grieve over grandpa’s departure. And it’s the same for everyone of us, especially grandma. Every little thing in the house seems to remind her of him. The chair where he usually sits, the things that belongs to him, the empty chair at the dining table and a missing companion during meals. It’s heartbreaking to even think and reminisce the good old memories of grandpa. All these snippets of him flash before my eyes every time I think of him and it seems like it was just yesterday.

I miss grandpa.

I guess it takes some time for me to get over it. It’s my first time experiencing a loss at an older age. I begin to learn that there is absolutely nothing in this world that is greater than the love of a family. I’ve also started to believe in things that I used to called “superstition”. Every thing seems so real and believable. It’s the first time I truly believe in and appreciate my own religion and beliefs. Lastly, I really appreciate the condolences from everyone during moments like this. I felt like I wasn’t going through these alone. Thank you so much.

May you rest in eternal peace, my dearest grandpa.

Brick Tower

Here’s some pictures backdated about 2 weeks ago. It was quite an impromptu date with Ka Yee and Foo to this rather foreign place to me. It’s called Menara Bata – which literally translates to Brick Tower (?) in English. I was quite unimpressed at first, a tower made of only brick and no further furnishing? But after a quick walk around the ground floor itself, I had to eat my own words.

It was definitely one of those awesome nights that I’ve always wished to have more frequently.

Of little sorrows and solicitude

It’s been a good couple of days since my official holidays started. All these days I haven’t been doing much. Most of the days I ground myself at home. Frantically (but not exactly) looking for internship jobs. It’s a 4 month long thing. Deep inside me, I am worried and terrified. Adapting into a completely foreign environment is a daunting task. It’s a fear that I can never seem to overcome.

Maybe it’s true that finding a job that you truly love is one of the most important things in life. I’m pretty sure there are plenty of people out there who are still working just for a living, not because they truly enjoy and love what they are doing, and tonnes of them still searching for that one reason to wake up to every morning. I am part of them. Maybe this is the reason why I’m extremely demotivated and discouraged. The same old feeling that I had 1 year back is haunting me. Perhaps it’s a normal thing and will probably go off when I slowly learn to adapt to a new environment.

Tonight, an unexpected person came talking to me. It’s been an emotional night. It was a long talk. Something I haven’t been doing for a long, long time. It’s such a horrible feeling to know that you are probably the last person on Earth to learn about something. I feel bad as a friend. I read the many blog posts that I glanced through for the past few weeks. I didn’t understand the content. Funny how re-reading everything makes perfect sense at this very moment.

Writing this reminds me so much of a movie Beni gave me. He insisted I watch the movie and one day I did. After watching it I told him that I found the reason why he liked it so much. I jokingly told him that the reason must be the nudity in it. He then firmly said, “No, It’s a beautiful movie.”

After a long while and an unforgettable experience. Those thoughts came running through my mind. It seems like everything makes perfect sense right now. I am the weirdo who doesn’t quite sleep at night. I am the dreamer. It’s a projection of my current life.

Learning to accept the harsh reality is part of the life journey. It’s cruel to make myself believe in something that I don’t wish to accept. I guess things that won’t kill me would just make me grow stronger.

Maybe, it’s time to let go. I’ve been keeping it with me for way too long. This would just remain as a valuable memory that would make me smile in many years come.

Dreamz Bakery

Last weekend my friends and I visited a cute bakery that I’ve always wished to visit. After a few rounds of frantic search, we finally found the bakery. To my disappointment, it wasn’t as photogenic as I always thought it will be. The place was small, with a few tables separated in a little but quaint looking room filled with notes on the walls, scribbles of messages on the black board, lit up with dim orange light and everyone would be seated on the floor. I thought the customers were seated too closely to each other and there was no privacy. I could easily overhear what the people on the next table were saying.

the only thing I liked from the bakery was the mille crepe. Coffee was just so-so and not to mention that everything there were pretty costly.

It has been a busy month. I’m posting these ~~super~~ late photos after much delay!

Joyce invited us to her private birthday party at Jade Hills and the place was so pretty! The following photos won’t do it any justice. –_-;

So the theme color for the night was categorised by age. Below 18 would be black, 21(or turning 21 this year) would be pink/red and 21 and above is white. Honestly, I was planning to go in black. (le thrown with rotten eggs lol)

Now, let some serious camwhoring begin.

On Sunday we had a night out at 17 Saloon, Sunway Giza. The drinks were cheap! RM26 for the first pint and RM1 for each 1 pint refill with no limit! Awesomeness zhi wen. :D

Somebody forgot her birthday cake so we bought another cake on the spot. BR ICE CREAM CAKE. YUMS.

I think it’s a good place for drinks but the food there was.. meh.

With the birthday girl, yyeng. If you don’t already noticed, we planned to wear black and make her stand out if she wears something light colored but she turned out in BLACK too. LOL

Grandpa.

I came home to find out that my grandpa is admitted to the hospital for the third time. This time they are suspecting that it’s a heart attack and my family called the ambulance. I was terrified with many other stories from my brother, telling me how sad my grandma was and that she was suddenly asking questions like, if my grandpa will be alright. I felt so bad because all these happened when I was out of the house, having dinner with my friends.

At this moment, my dad and his siblings are waiting at the hospital and me, typing this blog post at home. I feel so useless. I don’t know what I can do to make things better and to cheer up my upset grandma. Deep inside my heart, I feel extremely worried and scared. Mainly because I have never experienced such a thing at an older age and I grew up with my grandparents since the day I was born.

After a quick shower, I called my dad to check the situation at the hospital. Listening to him speaking with such a deep voice makes me feel even more anxious. All I can do was to turn on the hair dryer to mask any sniffing sounds.

Tonight, the media player seems to be playing all the emotional songs. It’s funny to think that something so inanimate seems to understand what I feel. Get well soon, grandpa.

Last few weeks was his 23rd birthday and we had an awesome day together. Not to forget that it was also my first time meeting Jeffrey since he’s back from Aussie for holiday!

It’s been a long time since I last went for karaoke. Opps I just broken my 2 year no karaoke spell.

Then we headed over to a small cafe, Indulge at Kuchai Lama for dinner. He’s been craving for the mille crepe for a long time. Too bad the cakes were a disappointment. Maybe it’s because I started with the best mille crepe cake(yes, Nadeje Patisserie Cafe in Malacca) so my expectation is high!

CHELSEA v. MALAYSIA

I’m a little too excited to post this so all the accumulated birthday posts shall come later because I haven’t really sort the pics yet! So it was an impromptu (sorta) plan to watch the Chelsea v. Msia match last Thursday. I wasn’t exactly thrilled at first UNTIL I was at the stadium. I heard the crowd that night was about 70 000! I guess that was the event with the largest crowd that I have ever been to. Watching such a huge crowd cheering for their favourite team was such a memorable experience.

We bought the RM 108 zone for RM70. Okay, not a bad deal really.

It was such a great experience to watch a live football match before my eyes. First time in my 18 20 years of life. The stadium was exactly how I pictured it to be. It was surreal. It was just like what we used to see from the television. A very well lit stadium with a large crowd, cheering and screaming in excitement to support their favourite team. The undying spirit of the fans was worth admiring. I will never forget this night. :)

I thought I should blog about this big day for all of our Seminar classmates after procrastinating for too long. It was an eventful night with minor hiccups which we managed to handle it like a boss. ;) I think I was one of the few who were actually watching the stage play for the first time. Yup. I definitely wasn’t involved in the stage play, but being part of the organizing committee, I had to confess that watching it from the deck of the auditorium was quite an experience. There wasn’t any mistake at all (I was secretly panicking and feeling nervous on behalf of the actors) and I’m so proud of them!

Food Fair Day. We didn’t spend much on it but could easily gain some profits because most of the food are sponsored! :D

The Media

So I read the newspapers. I read stories and live tweets. I watched videos posted online. I saw everything and all I need to see for myself about the recent rally fighting for clean and fair elections. I think I'm just like everyone else who initially did not bother to find out what the Bersih rally is, until everything that I see tells me that I need to stop and ponder for a while. About this nation, its people and many others things that come with it.

I guess it's a point where the history tries to repeat itself. This, is the moment that we should all stop being so ignorant and fight for something we deserve. Yesterday, I picked up The Star newspaper and as expected, the first few pages were filled with human interest stories written in rather hyperbolic language together with a photograph blew up in the largest size they could on the front cover of the newspaper.

I wasn't thrilled to read them. All I see were biased news stories which weren't representational enough of all parties. (read: What does the government has to say about this issue?) What happened to all sorts of police brutality and violence that we saw on youtube? Where are the stories about police aiming tear gas and water cannons at the public? The PM's comment on police's professionalism couldn't get any more ridiculous. It was a big lie published to continue deceiving and influencing the public. In fact, everything on the newspaper was absurd and so one-sided I couldn't continue reading.

I remember many semesters back then, I interviewed a reporter/news presenter from NTV7 for an assignment. There is a line that stays vividly in my mind, "Objective journalism is a fallacy". I truly believe that it is inevitable for a writer to be motivated by any form of bias. Be it personal bias, political stands.. or loyalty to any parties. I just feel very saddened to watch such a suppression in the mainstream media, in my home country. I feel like it affects me so much more because I, being a mass comm student is living in such a discouraging media environment.

I couldn't be more thankful for the existence of the internet. We have an alternative platform to spare our views to the very least. If you are eligible to vote, please do so. Malaysia needs you.

After weeks and weeks of preparation, I can’t believe that the event is starting tomorrow! A big hand to all the committee members and everyone else who helped in the preparation of the event. From the moment we elect the board committees, brainstorm for our theme, plan the event programs, write proposals, get sponsors, organize casting for stage play, do publicity stunts, invite guests… and getting every bits and pieces together, it’s finally D-day, it’s tomorrow! It’s been a long and bumpy ride. Nevertheless, it’s been filled with lots of fun and good memories. Reading the meeting minutes is like reading a diary of the event. I’ve learned many things, things that I will never learn books.

We did flashmob for the entire week. I was absolutely shy when they told me the initial plan but surprisingly, it was quite fun! I even braved myself and stood on a chair, froze for 5 minutes, reading newspaper(Yup, you guessed it, many people made fun of me!) and many other embarrassing poses! Those 5 minutes of the flashmob were the longest 5 minute in my entire life.

He was the centre of attention of the day, hahaha. By the way, I didn’t know that it will be this awkward when painting someone. You know, the weird stares and the moment when the paint brush glides on a person’s skin? I painted his head and I gave up. It was really awkward and I told them I CAN’T DO IT. Please LOL.

Gloria’s Big Day

So it was Gloria’s ~~18th~~ 20th birthday. I think I should stop this. People around me are getting annoyed with my constant denial of my real age. :D June picked me up from work and we had a simple dinner at Hard Rock Cafe, KL. The food was spectacular, ambiance was awesome, accompanied with a live band playing good old folk music and plenty of great companies that night.

I was surprised at how the waitress actually thought I’m underage when I was already in BUSINESS ATTIRE. WTF.

Waitress: How old are you?
Me: Hmmm, what do you think?
Waitress: Ahhh, I don’t know, you tell me.
Me: 18.
Waitress: Really? (panicked because there might be some age requirement to enter but errr..? In a restaurant?)
Me: No lah, 21. –_-

Turned out that she was just asking out of curiosity. I think it’s rude to ask a customer’s age and it certainly wasn’t really a pleasant experience. I didn’t make a fuss out of it because I was trying to entertain my friends. Haih.

It was a long, long shower. Many friends around me think that I’m mysterious, for keeping all my thoughts and feelings to myself. I am not vocal and expressive. Many find it relieving to let out their sorrow, anger and grief, among many other feelings, but I don't. Tell me I’m weird, because I find that long showers are the only space that I feel most comfortable in and expressive of myself. After a long while, I teared over many things. Too many that I don’t even know what exactly the reason is. I guess tough people do need to cry after being sturdy for too long.

It’s certainly not easy being tough. It’s even harder to find a pair of listening ears and broad shoulders for you to temporarily rely on. I guess I just need a room for me to let out all these stress and depression that I have and still am going through. I have a friend who is constantly reminding me not to talk about problems that i face on twitter. Maybe I just can’t help tweeting my anger and it seems like the only room for me to rant and not care about the entire world.

Tonight, I received a call from a good friend. We had a long talk. I couldn’t be anymore grateful to have him as a friend because he has always been the first person who has always cared and bother to ask what the heck is going on with my life. So, thank you. If you are reading this, smile to your monitor screen. :)

After a moment of mental breakdown and tearing, I always tell myself this: before I step out of this door, I need to get over it and find solutions. Armed myself with armours, shields and sharpened knives, I will not cry again.

why I am half dead is because I am currently doing literature review for my research paper. Honestly, I don’t even know what the fuck I’m doing at some point. I’m just so overwhelmed with so many things at the moment. It’s the first time that I’m feeling so glad to have just 3 days of classes in a week. I spend the rest of the time hanging out with everyone or grounding myself in my room to finish up my work.

This week was a happening one. We’re almost halfway through our event and we’ve already started taking portraits in the campus. It’s fun to meet new people and I enjoy every bit of it. It makes me feel like there are still so many awesome people out there that I’ve yet to meet.

Will die of caffeine overdose in no time.

The other day a girl came up to me and asked if I was an Assuntarian. I didn’t recognize her, but she did. That talk lasted for about 5 minutes. There is a strange familiarity that makes us both feel connected in a way. It’s amazing.

And yes, I could not be any prouder to tell everyone that I’m from Assunta High School.
